- A static light beacon is a fancy name for a beacon with a lamp (tungsten filament,
tungsten halogen, fluorescent or Light Emitting Diodes - LED) inside.
- Where would I use a static light beacon?
- Static light beacons application include status indicators, slaves to pulsed beacons,
general illumination and flashing beacons controlled from a PLC.
- I have heard that pulsing a mains lamp can cause EMC problems, how do you combat this?
- We address this particular problem using a "zero crossing switch" which
switches the load either on or off only when the AC voltage waveform is 0 volts thus
eliminating the clicks and spikes otherwise generated.
- I want a string of lights to flash "all together" is that OK?
- YES! With the PSL upwards, "Slave" terminals are available for connecting Static Light Beacon Lamps which will flash ON at the same time as
the bulb in the Pulsed beacon. Just ensure that the total wattage of the slave units does

- The PPH and PPJ seem very expensive compared to the PSH and PSJ, why?
- The PPH and PPJ are special products designed for long range signalling (up to 10km)
applications and incorporate lamps with in-built reflectors. These only emit a tightly
focused beam light out of the end of the beacon which is ideal for signalling across water
for example.
